Feeling the need to get back to basics or learn the basics? 

Whether you need a refresher or are a beginner looking for an introduction to the wonderful world of drawing, here is your opportunity.

Date:  Saturday Sept. 21st, 2019  10:00 am - 4:00 pm:

In Introduction to Drawing, Part 1, we looked at the range of materials you can use to draw and the tips and tricks of using art tools.  In this second workshop, we will review what was covered in the first, with a brief discussion of materials and papers. The emphasis will be on pencil drawing.  We will explore the elements of design through both demo's and individual exercises. 

We will focus on the following four areas: 

1. Positive and negative shapes

2. Tonal drawing (full value range using pencil)

3. Texture (simulating texture with pencil)

4. Perspective drawing (one and two point perspective)

Note:  This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to draw.  Attendance at the first workshop is not a prerequisite.  

Materials:  sketchbook or Strathmore drawing paper, regular white eraser, kneaded eraser, 2B, 4B, Hb pencils, smudger, pencil sharpener, ruler, masking tape, kneaded eraser, regular white eraser, scissors and exacto knife. 

If you are unsure of any materials please bring what you have and I will have extras available.

Place:  Kanata Art Club, March Central Community Center, 630 Cameron Harvey Drive, Kanata

Cost:  $40 for KAC members, $50 for non-members.  

KAC members will have the opportunity to register for this workshop on August 15th.  Registration will be open to the general public on September 3rd.

Registration is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.

The Kanata Art Club reserves the right to cancel a class where there is insufficient registration.  You will be notified and issued a cheque for a full refund.

To withdraw prior to the start date, please contact the  A cheque for a full refund less an administrative fee of $5.00 will be issued if a written request is received no less than 48 hours prior to the start of the first class.  There will be no refund issued beyond that date.
