A Master Class with Peter John Reid
"Having painted in both watercolour and oil paints, the versatility of acrylic has been dominant for the last number of years. I work mostly on large canvases, for the love of the visual impact of size, which can dominate the visual field, and still allows one to get lost in the abstract of texture and details.
Born in Plymouth, England, raised in Toronto, studied at the Ontario College of Art, and for the last twenty-some years residing in rural Grey County in the heart of Niagara Escarpment country has provided me with a wealth of inspiration. My driving force has always been a need to create, in all mediums: wood, stone, plastic, and metal, but mostly in paint. It is much like hunger – the longer it goes without expression, the greater the outpouring of creative energy. My goal is to always grow as a painter, oh and, I guess, as a person as well."
Do you want to take your art to the next level? You now have the opportunity to paint your favorite landscape scene from a photo you have taken yourself, under the guidance of an acrylics expert. You will provide Peter with 3 photo references in advance of this workshop, and Peter will advise you on the preferred choice of reference. You will also give Peter an image of a recent painting you have done, and complete a self-assessment questionnaire, to help Peter understand your skill level, and adapt his teaching strategies to your learning needs. Peter will be focusing on colour, composition, perspective, brushwork, and painting techniques,
Your scene may include fields or forests, rocks, water in all its forms, trees and flora. When you are painting at the workshop, Peter will be there to provide guidance, answer questions, and push you to produce that masterwork you've dreamed of.
