Flowers, Faces and Figures with Janet Rogers

“I love the fluid nature of watercolor.  To me, the interaction of artist with the medium is like a dance – full of motion, feeling, and expression.  Discovering new color and composition as the painting develops is my joy.  As a teacher, my goal is to enable students to find their connections with watercolor in new and expressive ways.”

Janet Rogers is best known for her spontaneous and sensitive interpretations of flowers, faces and figures.  She is passionate about colour.  Working initially with fresh flowers, Janet brings to this workshop her own unique approach to colour mixing.  As she takes you from flowers to faces, then figures, you will discover a myriad of subtle hues and delicate skin tones.  The emphasis on gesture, the fluid brushwork, and her expressive interpretation of the human form will both energise and inspire you.  Janet paints with intention but is delighted by the unexpected.  Her enthusiasm is contagious; her generosity unlimited.  She has much to offer both the advanced student and beginner alike.

Janet has been a professional artist for 30 years.  She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the Florida Watercolor Society, the South Carolina Watercolor Society and has received numerous awards over the years for her expressive and sensitive portraits of people.
