Colour Theory for the Figure Artist, with Brian Smith

We all understand bits of colour theory, but do you have enough knowledge to make it useful to you in your daily painting?  This three day workshop will focus on colour theory, simple palettes and colour mixing, so that you can learn how to solve your colour problems before they happen.  It's "play time" with lots of positive one-on-one time with Brian.  We will have a model each day for the three days and the cost includes the model fees.

About the Instructor

Brian Smith, BFA, has been both a professional, award-winning graphic designer and practicing fine artist for the past 40 years, focusing on classical drawing and painting from the figure. In January 2005, Brian was awarded the title of Honourary Drawing Master by the Drawing Society of Canada.  Brian has taught classes and workshops on life drawing, portraiture and figurative abstraction for over 25 years and has been on the faculty of the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU), The Koffler Centre for the Arts, Haliburton School of The Arts, Curry's Art School, Visual Arts Mississauga and the Neilson Part Creative Centre as well as conducting Master Classes in his own studio.  Brian states that the thrill of the human form , and the challenge of recording and interpreting that form and its gestures and surfaces keeps bringing him back daily.  He is an artist because the human form inspires him.  See his website HERE
