Intuitive Abstract Painting with Steve Rogers

Steve Rogers attended Rollins College, Florida and graduated with a degree in Art in Monmouth College, Illinois.  He has worked as a professional artist since 1975 and has won hundreds of awards in juried competitions.  He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and Transparent Watercolor Society of America.  For the past few years, he has been exploring abstract, intuitive painting,  with acrylics as his principal medium.  His work was most recently featured in the 46th issue of The Art of Watercolour magazine.

Artist's Statement

"As an abstract and intuitive painter, I am inspired by the outdoor locations where I teach in the United States and Europe.  When I return to the studio, my passion increasingly lies in painting the emotion and spiritual feeling of the the place..... I only use this internal reference as a starting point and then enter into a conversation with the painting itself in which I let its development guide my action in an intuitive and reactive way.
