Acrylic Landscapes Master Class with Peter John Reid
"Having painted in both watercolour and oil paints, the versatility of acrylic has been dominant for the last number of years. I work mostly on large canvases, for the love of the visual impact of size, which can dominate the visual field, and still allows one to get lost in the abstract of texture and details.
Born in Plymouth, England, raised in Toronto, studied at the Ontario College of Art, and for the last twenty-some years residing in rural Grey County in the heart of Niagara Escarpment country has provided me with a wealth of inspiration. My driving force has always been a need to create, in all mediums: wood, stone, plastic, and metal, but mostly in paint. It is much like hunger – the longer it goes without expression, the greater the outpouring of creative energy. My goal is to always grow as a painter, oh and, I guess, as a person as well."
Allow your brush to explore the subtle nuances of the acrylic landscape. Master fields and forests; trees and flora; rocks and water, in all of its forms. Let Peter guide you through the acrylic process. With a focus on colour, composition, perspective, brushwork and painting techniques, he will help you take your work to the next level.
Throughout this class, you will benefit both individually and collectively from the discussion and suggestions put forward by Peter as he reviews the progress of each student. You will be expected to complete at least one painting a week, and some painting exercises. Peter will adapt his teaching strategies to your individual skill level and specific learning needs And, he will work closely with you to bring out the masterwork that is hidden within.
