INTRODUCTION TO PORTRAITURE WITH DONATA SZAFIAN

Donata Szafian is a classically trained artist with a BFA from Janus Pannonius University, also a BA and MA from the Hungarian University of Applied Arts in Budapest.

The Kanata Art Club is offering two intensive seven week courses with accomplished artist Donata Szafian: an Introduction to Portraiture and an advanced, independent study class.     

Introduction to Portraiture:

Enhance your understanding of facial features and the proportions of the human head.  Strengthen your ability to use line, shadow, value, tone, rendering and perspective to create portraits that sparkle with light and life.  Donata will mentor each student, as they work through a study of their own choosing in graphite. Bring a photo reference.

Dates: Mondays, October 25th to December 13th 2021 (no class on November 8th). 

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Fee:  Members: $265.  Non-members: $285.00

Advanced (mentoring) class:

Donata will mentor you while you work on a portrait or project of your choosing, in oil, acrylic, or graphite.  

Dates: Tuesdays, October 26th to December 14th (no class on November 9th)

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Fee: Members: $265.  Non-members: $285.00

 

Registration is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.  Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Registration will open for KAC members on September 25th.  It will open for non-members on September  28th.

Kanata Art Club reserves the right to cancel a class where there is insufficient registration.  You will be notified and issued a cheque for a full refund.  

To withdraw prior to the start date, please contact the registrar at  registrar@kac1.ca  A cheque for a full refund less an administrative fee of $15.00 will be issued if a written request is received no less than 10 days prior to the start of the first class.  There will be no refund issued beyond that date, unless your spot can be filled from a waitlist.
