THE LIFE OF A PAINTING with Janis Miller Hall
Janis will lead you through the stages of representational painting, from start to finish. Learn how to develop dynamic compositions. Explore colour, texture, and value. Experiment with brushwork and palette knife techniques. Understand the early decisions that are critical to the success of your work.
Create your own original painting from the reference of your choice. Work in oil or acrylic; the choice is yours. Janis will introduce you to safe studio practices in both media.
Bring your enthusiasm and sense of humour to the class. Eliminate the frustrations, focus on the fun!
A graduate of Sheridan College (Creative Arts Diploma) and the University of Toronto (Bachelor of Art Education), Janis has been teaching and creating art in the Ottawa area for many years. "I enjoy capturing a moment in time so that memories can be shared visually. My work can be described as contemporary realism, depicting people and their surroundings."
