The act of manual drawing is our most immediate response to our visual world as it equally challenges our intellectual and intuitive interpretation, our visual comprehension and our ability to efficiently and poetically express what we see. Drawing has been described as the most determinative, self-dependent aspect of the artistic process. For good reason, great masters, old and contemporary, practiced and practice manual drawing regardless of the preferred medium of interest.
Following the traditional models of European ateliers, Mark Anthony teaches an old-world approach to visual observation and manual drawing practice based on an analysis of great masterworks, sculpture and the live model, scapes and still life. For over 30 years, Mark has lectured and taught hundreds of students of all levels a fundamental appreciation of artistic study using drawing as a platform for exploration and expression. Focusing on interpreting and understanding how you see rather than merely copying what you see, Mark leads each student through a comprehensive analysis of underlying visual principles and application through lectures, examples and demonstrations. This approach effectively equips the student to work directly from life with great confidence, accuracy and emotional freedom.

The Kanata Art Club reserves the right to cancel a class where there is insufficient registration. You will be notified and issued a cheque for a full refund.
To withdraw prior to the start date, please contact the registrar@kac1.ca . A cheque for a full refund less an administrative fee of $15.00 will be issued if a written request is received no less than 1 week prior to the first class. There will be no refund issued beyond that date.
