Helen Gordon

I have always been doodling and drawing and painting and creating, but put those urges on the back burner during a career in the Hi Tech. My job took me around the world, and I now regret that I didn’t take along a sketch pad to capture the wonderful scenes. I started back into creativity about 20 years ago with fibre art, designing my own pieces using whatever technique or materials that suited the subject. This has now progressed into the world of mixed media. I discovered that I could not achieve realism with fibre and materials, so jumped to watercolour and now love the transparent washes and soft migration of colour. My technical and analytical background gave me a love of puzzles and I find doing watercolour is very much a matter of solving the puzzle of keeping the white. In my mixed media art, finding the perfect technique or material is also very much a puzzle to solve.
