Art has become one of her retirement obsessions and a favoured meditative pastime with her goal being to continue learning and to continue improving her artistic techniques in the eyes of her peers
Gail discovered a latent interest and potential in drawing and painting after her children were grown and had left the nest. Principally self-taught, her favourite mediums are graphite, charcoal, pen and ink and watercolour. She also enjoys painting in acrylics. Gail frequently takes classes with esteemed local and international art instructors and regularly participates at Kanata Art Club life drawing studios.
Gail served as Membership Coordinator of the Kanata Art Club (KAC) for 5 years, KAC Vice-President from 2015 to 2017 and currently serves as the KAC President. She is a member of, and has served on the executive committees of various Ottawa Valley art clubs since retiring in 2009.
She was favoured with the:
- Viewers' Choice Award at the 2014 KAC Juried Show,
- President's Choice Award in 2014, and
- Best in Show in 2015.
