Drawing From Life with Brian Smith

DRAWING FROM LIFE with Brian Smith

November 9-12, 2017 - in partnership with the Valley Art Association

"I have loved the human form since I first began to draw.  For me, each piece is about capturing those absolutely perfect curves and extraordinary shapes that we all have, the forms that will reveal the beauty and dignity that I see in the model."

Drawing from life is a challenge.  It may intimidate even the most accomplished artist but it is also most rewarding.  Come and join us in this four day intensive and fun workshop.  Brian will focus initially on the elements and proportions of the face, challenging you to identify and isolate the unique characteristics of the individual in order to achieve a likeness.  Moving from the face to the full figure in the last two days, we will explore gesture, movement, and contour drawing, through a series of innovative exercises.  Brian will also help you to develop the form with light and shade.

In the portrait portion of the workshop, the participants will draw each other.  In the figure drawing portion of the workshop, we will have a live model (undraped).
